On Wednesday, Dec. 4, a diverse group of stakeholders held a press call to discuss the EPA’s proposed reduction to 2014 biofuel blending requirements, as well as their individual policy objectives, as they seek to limit the various negative impacts of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The press call offered a preview of comments expected to be made during the EPA’s Dec. 5 public hearing in support of the agency’s 60-day comment period regarding the proposed rule. Participants on the call represent U.S. food producers; global anti-hunger advocates; environmental groups; refiners; consumer interest groups; national chain restaurant representatives; marine engine manufacturers; free market think tanks;  and the boating industry.
